KNOCK DOWN FITTINGS:
- To make it easier to assemble products.
- Often designed for use with allen keys or screw drivers.
- Often used for flat pack furniture.
- Disk fits into a recess in the first side of the cabinet.
- Rotates by inserting a screw driver.
- Collar of shaft is passed through hole in second slot in the disk.
Knock - Down Half Block:
- Screws directly to two cabinets parts to hold them at 90 degrees.
- The screw holes may weaken if it is dismantled and reassembled repeatedly.
- Rectangular with 2 holes at the top and 1 on the side.
- Strong, counter sunk.
Knock - Down Full Block:
- Screws two parts, which are then joined with a single machine screw.
- Good for frequent assembly.
- 3 holes for screws, counter sunk holes to allow for screws.
- Good for frequent assembly
- Used for furniture such as desks and wardrobes.
Cross Dowel and Bolt:
- Very strong joining method because the barrel nut is fitted to a hole across one of the panels.
Corner Plate:
- Allows a table leg to be fitted to a table frame without tools.
- A special threaded wood screw onto which a tightened wing nut holds the leg in place.
